Binance France Head Targeted: On February 12th, David Princay, head of Binance France, was the target of a failed home invasion in Val-de-Marne. Three masked men, reportedly armed, entered a residential building early that morning looking for him. They left with two mobile phones after not finding him. Two hours later, the group tried another invasion in Vaucresson but had the wrong address. The suspects were arrested in Lyon after police traced the phones and used surveillance. Binance stated, “We are aware of a home break-in involving one of our employees. At this stage, we will not comment on specific details to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and ensure the safety of all involved individuals.” Read More.
Figure Confirms Data Breach: Meanwhile, Figure Technology, a blockchain-based lending company, confirmed a data breach caused by a social engineering attack on an employee. The company reported that a limited number of files were stolen. Spokesperson Alethea Jadick said the firm is communicating with partners and those impacted, and is offering free credit monitoring to all individuals who receive a notice. ShinyHunters took responsibility after Figure refused to pay a ransom and published 2.5 gigabytes of data containing customers’ full names, home addresses, dates of birth, and phone numbers. Crypto Security Landscape Evolves: These cases highlight the increasing prevalence of physical attacks and data breaches in the crypto space. In 2025, more than 60 wrench attacks were reported against holders and executives. Recent leaks include Ledger's January 2026 exposure of customer order data through a third-party partner and Coinbase's breach disclosed in May 2025, where cybercriminals bribed rogue overseas support agents to steal data affecting 69,461 users, with exposed information including names, dates of birth, the last four digits of Social Security numbers, bank account details, and government ID photos.
