🚀 MegaETH Mainnet Launch
Mainnet Goes Live Today: On February 9th, 2026, MegaETH activated its public mainnet, making more than 50 live applications immediately accessible through the network's interface. The launch builds on a testnet phase conducted last year and a major global stress test in January 2026 that processed 11 billion transactions over seven days. Since its founding in 2022, the project has raised $20 million in a seed round led by Dragonfly Capital in June 2024, with participation from Vitalik Buterin and Joseph Lubin. An October 2025 public token sale drew $1.39 billion in commitments, oversubscribed by 27.8 times. The network operates as a high-performance chain that settles transactions on Ethereum.
Performance and Architecture: MegaETH is built to function as a real-time blockchain, targeting more than 50,000 transactions per second with 10-millisecond block times and, in some cases, exceeding 100,000 TPS with sub-millisecond latency. It achieves this through SALT (Small Authentication Large Trie), which keeps essential data in memory to reduce storage-related delays. By separating execution from Ethereum's settlement and security layers, the design pushes performance beyond conventional limits. The team explains: “MegaETH leverages Ethereum for settlement and security, while separating out execution to push past the performance ceiling that traditional architectures impose. The goal was never to be an L1 or an L2. The goal was to build the most performant chain possible, and this architecture is the logical conclusion of blockchain design.” Supporting development, the in-house MegaMafia accelerator has helped teams raise over $70 million from investors such as Franklin Templeton and Robot Ventures.
Token Release and Mechanics: Token generation for the native MEGA token remains separate from the mainnet launch and will take place seven days after any one of three predefined KPIs is met: a $500 million 30-day average circulating supply of USDM, ten active MegaMafia applications live on mainnet, or three applications consistently generating over $50,000 in daily fees for 30 consecutive days. The tokenomics include "Proximity Markets," where users can lock MEGA to gain reduced-latency access to the sequencer, and a buyback program that applies all USDM yield toward purchasing and removing MEGA from circulation.
