MEV Bot Steals Airdrop Claims

MEV Bot Steals $200K in Kaito Airdrop
MEV Bot Hits Airdrop: An MEV bot named Yoink stole $200,000 in ETH, around 119 ETH, from Kaito-Wayfinder’s PROMPT token airdrop. It impacted 1,781 users, with 33% of claims affected, costing $190,000. “This exposed airdrop flaws,” an analyst noted on X. The bot targeted a Twitter-based claim system, leaving users empty-handed. The scam sparked concerns over blockchain security, prompting a closer look at the exploit’s mechanics.
Bot Exploited Claim System: The bot, address 0x80…D4e4, used MEV strategies to frontrun claims, swapping PROMPT for ETH mid-transaction. “Users saw ‘claimed’ but got nothing,” an X user said. It leveraged predictable social patterns in the signature-based system, affecting one-third of claims. The bot prioritized its trades using high gas fees, costing $190,000. TokenTable confirmed the smart contracts were secure, but user-facing logic was the weak point.
TokenTable Compensates Users: TokenTable paused the airdrop, impacting 1,781 users, and allocated $155,576 for compensation. Affected users can claim PROMPT tokens and get extra USDT—e.g., 5,000 PROMPT yields 206.55 USDT. Gas refunds of $2 USDT were added for 249 failed transactions. “Great response,” an X user said. They’re also working with MEV experts to prevent future exploits, urging users to verify claims safely via the original link. Read More.
