OpenSea Delays SEA Token Indefinitely

⏳ OpenSea Delays SEA Token Launch

OpenSea Token Launch Delayed: OpenSea CEO Devin Finzer announced the delay of the SEA token launch. The foundation had planned to kick off the first steps as part of the March 30th event, but the OpenSea Foundation is pushing back the timeline with no new date given. Finzer stated, "A delay is a delay. I’m not going to dress it up, and I know how it lands." He added, "The reality is that market conditions are challenging across crypto right now, and $SEA only launches once." The token generation event was originally slated for a first-quarter launch this year.

Community Allocation and Rewards: Fifty percent of the total supply was earmarked for OpenSea's community, including OG users and participants in the rewards program. The current rewards wave will be the last. An optional fee refund is offered for platform fees in waves three through six; opting in removes the Treasures. Treasures held will be meaningfully considered by the Foundation at TGE, independent from historical activity allocations. Fifty percent of platform revenue will be used for token buybacks at launch, with SEA staking behind favorite tokens and collections.

Trading Fees and Market Odds: OpenSea will reduce its token trading fees to zero percent for sixty days starting March 31st, then implement a more competitive fee system. A separate product updates event focused on the mobile app and other features will occur in the coming months. On Polymarket, the probability of a launch by March 31st, 2026 is under one percent, rising to seventy-eight percent by December 31st, 2026. Another market shows a seventeen percent chance that the fully diluted valuation exceeds one billion dollars one day after launch. Read More.
